Gulfstream G650 Production Comes to a Close: End of an Era, Rise of the G800

February 12, 2025 – Savannah, GA
Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has officially completed production of its final Gulfstream G650, marking the end of an iconic chapter in business aviation. The final aircraft is now entering the completions phase at Gulfstream’s Appleton, Wisconsin facility, with delivery to the customer expected later this year.

Legacy of the G650 and G650ER

Since their debut, the G650 and G650ER have defined the ultra-long-range private jet category, earning over 125 world speed records and surpassing 1 million flight hours. Gulfstream was awarded the Robert J. Collier Trophy in 2014 for the program’s technological innovations in performance, safety, and manufacturing precision.

Notable achievements include:

  • A 2015 circumnavigation with just one stop
  • The longest and fastest business jet flight from Singapore to Tucson in 2019
  • Participation in the 2019 'One More Orbit' record-setting polar circumnavigation

Ongoing Support & Retrofit Capabilities

Although production has ceased, the G650 fleet will remain active for decades. Gulfstream continues to invest in technology upgrades and retrofit solutions, including the Honeywell Primus Epic Block 3 avionics and Starlink high-speed internet connectivity.

Sustainability & Innovation Platform

The G650 family has also played a key role in sustainability testing, notably becoming the first platform to fly using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in 2022, powered by Rolls-Royce BR725 engines.

Conclusion

The Future: Gulfstream G800

Stepping into the future, Gulfstream’s all-new G800 is positioned to succeed the G650 legacy. Featuring Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, the G800 will deliver:

  • Up to 8,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.85
  • Seating for up to 19 passengers
  • Symmetry Flight Deck and advanced Combined Vision System (CVS)
Certification by the FAA is expected in the first half of 2025, setting a new benchmark in the ultra-long-range jet category.
